The project is located in Kunshan Economic Development Zone, within the core area of the Xiajia River Innovation Corridor, south of Financial Street, east of Xiajia River adjacent to the Xiajia River Park Metro Station.
A major challenge was getting customers:
The design of Kunshan Xiajia River Park Waterfront Cultural District addresses these challenges by rebranding the Metro Station and connecting it directly to an upper level Recreational Highline leading to an iconic observation platform at the far end of the site.
Consistent with the Xiajiahe River Science and Technology Innovation Corridor Plan, the project offers a gentle naturalistic experience in contrast to normal hard-edged, rectangular geometries. The project will be unique as a green oasis where shops, restaurants and cultural amenities are found along winding paths.
The project’s curvilinear pavilions are a reminder the shapes of the ancient canals of the Yangtze River Delta and the world-famous landscape paintings of Lu Fang. The form of the observation tower recalls the lotus flowers of Kunshan’s Tinglin Park and the dancers of the renowned Kunshan Opera.
